1. 8386 (tám ba tám sáu):
Young people have started using "8386" to congratulate or compliment each other. Instead of saying "chúc mọi người phát tài phát lộc" (wishing everyone wealth and prosperity), they say, "chúc mọi người 8386 mãi đỉnh" (wishing everyone 8386, forever awesome).
For a long time, Asians have regarded the number 8 (bát - phát) as a symbol of success, while the number 6 (lục - lộc) is associated with fortune, and the number 3 (tam - tài) represents stability. The phrase "phát tài, phát lộc" (wealth and prosperity) is an essential part of well-wishes during important occasions like the Lunar New Year or store openings.

4. Ní (pronoun)
Similar to "Bảnh," "Mấy ní" is a piece of social slang used to refer to someone in an affectionate and friendly manner. Emerging on Threads, "Mấy ní" has been actively used among friends and acquaintances, serving as a casual alternative to phrases like "Mấy cậu" or "Mấy người," thus bridging the conversational gap. It is often used in contexts like:
"Mấy ní dạo này ổn không?" (How have you all been lately?)

Not confined to Threads, "Mấy ní" has also gained significant traction on TikTok, becoming a popular way of addressing others, especially among the youth, during the early part of the year. 5. Tẻn tẻn (adj)
"Tẻn tẻn" is a slang term that emerged on social media platforms such as Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, and Threads. The term first appeared around July 2023 in popular TV shows like Anh Trai Say Hi and Anh Trai Vượt Ngàn Chông Gai. Afterward, it was frequently used by men in playful banter with one another, gradually becoming common in posts and comments among Gen Z.
In terms of meaning, "tẻn tẻn" is often used to describe a carefree, “clueless,” humorous state, creating laughter, fun, or a sense of silliness. When someone speaks or acts in a way that naturally makes others laugh, "tẻn tẻn" can be used as a way to express enjoyment. It conveys a lighthearted, comfortable vibe, sometimes with a childlike quality.
6. Đỉnh nóc, kịch trần, bay phấp phới
This term originally came from a line by People's Artist Tự Long in the program Anh Trai Vượt Ngàn Chông Gai to describe the legendary player Hồng Sơn. Afterward, this phrase was adopted by the online community as a way to give compliments, replacing phrases like “great” or “outstanding.”
In just four months, “Đỉnh nóc, kịch trần, bay pháp phối” was mentioned more than 1.1 million times. It gained prominence on YouTube, but Facebook became the primary platform for this social slang (accounting for 85.07% of all discussions). It can be said that “Đỉnh nóc, kịch trần, bay pháp phối” has become a national-level slang phrase for Gen Y.
